TMJ: Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome
TMJ is short for Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome, a condition causing mild to severe jaw pain. TMJ can be caused by a misaligned jaw, by grinding the teeth or stress causing clenching of the jaw. TMJ can be a short term acute problem associated with increased stress or it can be stubborn long term issue. Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for TMJ and most types of Jaw pain, including tooth aches and post dental procedure pain. Locally placed acupuncture needles around the temporomandiibular joint can relieve the tension, pain and inflammation of the jaw associated with TMJ disorders and in many cases completely resolve the pain.
