Acupuncture Treatments for Women’s Health

Seattle Sourcepoint Acupunture for Women's Health

Acupuncture can help with a wide variety of women’s health complaints including infertility, menopause, dysmenorrhea, and general hormonal imbalances. I have had great success using acupuncture to treat infertility. I have also had great success using acupuncture for pre-natal care, especially for aches and pains associated with pregnancy and digestive problems. Acupuncture can also be used to treat menstrual cycle problems, menstrual cramps as well as menopause and hot flashes.

Infertility can be caused by a wide range of issues, most notably hormonal imbalance and lack of ovulation. From the Chinese medicine point of view, infertility is most often caused by an underlying deficiency of the Kidney and Liver. By nourishing the energy (Qi) of the Liver and the Kidneys, acupuncture and herbal medicine can restore hormonal imbalance, regulate ovulation and increase fertility. Many clients seeking increased fertility became pregnant after a series of 10-15 sessions at out clinic.

Menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, decreased desire, and dryness are caused by decreased levels of estrogen and progesterone. From the Chinese medicine perspective Menopause is considered a Liver and Kidney Yin Deficiency pattern, often accompanied by excess Yang and heat signs. Empty heat or Yin deficiency heat, can often effect the heart and agitate the spirit. By nourishing the Liver and Kidney Yin, and clearing excess heat from the system, acupuncture can successfully resolve most menopausal symptoms.

Acupuncture For Pregnancy

Acupuncture is a very safe and effective treatment strategy for many common complaints many women experience during pregnancy. Robert has successfully treated many cases of morning sickness commonly experienced during the first trimester as well as acid reflux that is more common in the 3rd trimester. The over the counter home remedy Apple Cider Vinegar can also be very helpful easing the symptoms of routine morning sickness. Acupuncture can also successfully treat low back and hip pain and many common aches and pains during pregnancy. Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy have also been shown to be effective in treating breech babies and getting the fetus to turn into the proper position. Additionally, over the past 15 years Robert has successfully used acupuncture many times at his Seattle Acupuncture clinic to encourage labor and stimulate a timely birth process
